“I’m worried about ransomware. What are some of the ways it can spread, and what can I do to get protected against it?”

Answer from Rational Business Solutions Inc.:

Ransomware spreads mostly through email and the emails are looking more and more legitimate each day. They sometimes include personal information that would make you think that it is real, when in fact it is a scam. The other way is by clicking on a bad website, however this is less common. A more recent development has been the disbursement of thumb drives or USB keys. They just get left around and then someone picks it up and puts it in their computer and the ransomware immediately installs. The best protection is to be diligent when opening attachments or clicking on links in emails and never attach random devices to your computer.
